BBC’s Top Gear gets a Facelift
BBC World Wide has redesigned its auto site “Top Gear” with hopes to give audiences more interactive elements and auto industry news - To put it simply, think Autobytel’s MyRide on rich media steroids!
The revived Top Gear made its debut today with over 300 vides for users to consume and share with friends. In addition to video, site principals are expected to contribute to the site with blogs, users can view scheduled Web TV shows hosted by Top Gear professionals and finally, the site comes ladened with auto themed games.
Aside from the sites social aspect, Top Gear is deemed a great repository of automotive information for the perspective buyer, but what makes it different from other third party sites that do the same is that the BBC and Top Gear have tried to make the information-gathering phase of the consumers buying cycle, far more engaging than usual.
Unfortunately, Top Gear caters to just the UK today, but with the BBC’s recent exploration of more North American entities, it could mean that this car enthusiast site could soon expand its coverage.
