Google’s “Display Ad Builder” a Concern for Traditional Media

Yesterday, Google launched a product called “Display Ad Builder” to work in tandem with their AdWords program.

Prior to the arrival of “Display Ad Builder” advertisers were asked to upload their pre-built creative to run a display ad, but as of yesterday, they can now choose from 40 customizable templates and avoid the extended cost of the design of their ads. With that being said, I have not yet had a chance to play around with “Display Ad Builder”, but I think it goes without saying that if your brand is accustom to being represented by high level design and designers, then this product is probably not for you. Google’s “Display Ad Builder” will find its sweet spot within the small to medium sized businesses that have very limited resources. Now the concerning thing for other media publishers is that many of their small to medium sized business advertisers are getting hip to Google and AdWords as an advertising source. The awareness may have been slower than other industries, but either way, the arrival of “Display Ad Builder” should concern publishers, especially if they do not have a fully functional self-service tool that allows advertisers to build their display ads from scratch, online.

If publishers are interested in updating their self-service applications, there are many vendor who are worth talking to: AdPerfect (strong relationship with Canwest); AdReady (doing work with the New York Times) and Bluefin (doing work with the Chicago Tribune) and these are just a few. It is also important to note that these vendors usually offer extensive training and post launch support to aid publishers in getting their teams up to speed.

  1. anybody knows how i could get my banned Adwords account back?*;*

  2. Adwords is really good in driving traffic to your website. however, they are very strict right now and they would not easily approve websites that they thought have low quality content. :-
