Pulitzer Board to Consider Web Submissions
The Pulitzer Prize Board has now conceded to considering story submissions from not only print dailies and weeklies, but also from online news sources. The aged awards group has recognized that the way consumers embrace news has changed. Moreover, consumers have made it clear that they view online news sources as very credible authorities on editorial views of what’s happening in the world – and this doesn’t look like it will change any time soon.
The Pulitzer Prize Board’s change of heart is definitely timely as we see newspapers digitize their editorial teams and do away with much of the “traditional journalism”. It was either the Pulitzer Board allow submissions from Web sources or end up with no print submissions to judge, due to changing newspaper business processes and consumer habits.
