Top Gear – What are they doing now?
We blogged about Top Gear in October of this year, as at that time we were impressed with what the group was attempting to do online, through their site revamp. Now, Top Gear has stepped up and impressed us once again with their heavy syndication strategy online.
Top Gear, being an award winning BBC television series about everything automotive, it seems is juicing its expansion plan with steroids. First, as we mentioned above, the team worked on the site revamp, which is now in a much better state than when it launched. Since the revamp, it seems they have done a ton of video syndication (see example below), which has undoubtedly helped to increase the show’s popularity. Given the uber energies put behind the brand, Top Gear has also started recording its Australian and US versions of the show. We are told that the American Top Gear series will air in March 2009 and it has also been rumored that a Top Gear Russia is on its way.
So, even though the auto sector appears deprived and depressing, Top Gear has found a way to make it internationally entertaining!
