What Little I Know…

Twitter as Common as Apple Pie

By now we’ve all heard of Twitter and some of you have even joined the dark side and signed up Tweet yourselves, but for the very few of you who haven’t, or don’t get the attraction, you would be surprised to know who is and does.

Judges in American courts are concerned as more and more jurors have been caught posting tweets related to cases, grossly affecting a cases end result.  The New York Times reported today that a ruling awarding a 12.6 million dollar payout was overturned because of a jurors Twittering activity.  Twitter has affected the legal world to the extent that folks such as LegalTech had included a whole session on the micro-blogging site in one of its most recent conference tracks.

Not only is Twitter invading our courtrooms and offices, but what’s this I hear…  Twitter co-founder Evan Williams was invited to the White House to attend an Economic Summit!  I guess by the time Twitter reveals its revenue model, combined with its staggering growth, their revenues may be enough to cover a good portion of the US governments bailout fund.  Just jesting!

For publishers who feel that Twitter has nothing on you and your recruitment revenues, don’t be so naive.  I encourage you to perform a job search on Twitter.  You would be surprised to see the depth of results you would receive.

As an aside, Mashable states that Twitter is now growing at a rate of 1,382 per cent and if you’re interested, you can find some other useful Mashable posts here that will guide you on how to be active on Twitter, but remain productive in the office.
